The 35th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, IRMMW-THz 2010, was held in Rome,
Italy, from the 5th to the 10th of September 2010. The conference has been organized by ENEA under the technical co-sponsorship
of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) and took place at the Angelicum, Pontificia Università San
Tommaso d’Aquino, Largo Angelicum 1, Roma.
The success of the event is witnessed by the unprecedented record of 640 delegates registered at the conference coming from 36
countries from all over the world.
Overall 635 papers have been presented during IRMMW-THz-2010. Besides the 12 Plenary Talks, the conference counted 68 keynote talks and 235 oral talks,
together with 320 posters presented in four afternoon sessions in the wonderful frame of the cloister of the Angelicum.
The Conference Proceedings are published in electronic form only by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society and are available
on the IEEE Xplore Digital Library website.
The Conference is the largest event devoted to scientific and technological developments in the wide spectral
range extending from the infrared to the millimeter wave region. The conference topics include infrared,
terahertz and millimeter wave sources and components as well as detectors and instrumentation. It encompasses
micro- and nano-scale structures to large accelerators and Tokamaks, and deals with applications as diverse
as space science, plasma physics, biology, bio-medicine, cultural heritage conservation, environmental and
material sciences, telecommunications and security. Such a multidisciplinarity makes this conference an outstanding
occasion to gather together scientists from different fields and exchange information on different methodological and
History of the conference series|
The International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), begun in 1974,
is the oldest and largest continuous forum specifically devoted to the field of ultra high frequency
electronics and applications. In 2004 the original conference series - International Conference on
Infrared and Millimeter Waves (IRMMW) joined up with the International Conference on THz Electronics
to form the Joint 29th International Conference on Infrared and Millimeter Waves and the 12th International
Conference on Terahertz Electronics (IRMMW-THz 2004). In 2008 the conference name was shortened to the 33rd
International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves. The conference typically alternates
between Europe, Asia and USA on a three year cycle. The 2008 conference was held at CalTech Pasadena, CA (USA)
and the 2009 conference is being held in Busan, Korea from September 20 to 25, 2009. On the basis of previous
attendance figures, over 500 participants are expected in Rome next year.
The IRMMW conference and its long standing accompanying monthly publication, the Journal of Infrared,
Millimeter and Terahertz Waves, are the reference point for people working in the fields of millimeter
wave devices, components and systems from the infrared to the mm-waves.
